People in work permit in US πΊπΈ wants to move to CA π¨π¦ because of the delay in GC processing in USπΊπΈ
Citizens in CA wants to move to US πΊπΈ because of the cost of living in CA π¨π¦ & better pay in US πΊπΈ
I have worked in US and Canada for sometime. So sharing the thoughts from my personal experience. Difference b/w working in US πΊπΈvs Canada π¨π¦
IT Opportunities:
πΊπΈ Opportunities are really high in US
π¨π¦ Canada is a comparatively small market compared to US
Package/Salary:
The salary/contract rates are higher in US compared to Canada
Location:
πΊπΈ IT market is wide spread across US. You get better options to choose the location
π¨π¦ The choice of location is limited. The IT is focused on few areas such as Montreal, GTA, Vancouver and few other cities.
Cost of Living:
The cost of living in US is less compared to Canada. In Canada, most of the things are expensive
Housing:
From my experience, Canada’s housing is too expensiveπ. Very tough to afford & high yearly appreciation.
Weather:
πΊπΈ The weather is better in US, especially if you move towards South. So if you don’t like cold weather, you have multiple options in US
π¨π¦ Its cold in most of the places 4-5 months an year. Snow is a part of the life. π₯Ά
Immigration:
πΊπΈ Immigration is tougher. High level of uncertainty on immigration process. Anytime things will change π
π¨π¦ Immigration friendly country. Easy to immigrate to Canada when compared to US. π
Ease of immigration:
πΊπΈ An indian citizen has to wait for a decade at least to get a PR card.
π¨π¦ Express entry in place. Immigrate within 6 months (due to covid, there is a backlog. Before that it was very easy)
Work Culture:
I haven’t seen much difference in work culture. Toronto has similar work culture as NY.
Family visit:
πΊπΈ Parents can visit up to 6 months.
π¨π¦ Parents can visit & stay up to 5 years. Canada promotes bringing parents to stay with you π
Medical:
πΊπΈ Insurance is required. High cost of medical expense.
π¨π¦ Out of pocket expense is zero. Insurance covered by Government.
Quality of Medical Care:
I feel quality of medical care is better in πΊπΈ than π¨π¦. The medical services is not that great in Canada.
In case of Job loss:
πΊπΈ Your insurance gets cut out. You are not covered under medical.
π¨π¦ You don’t have to worry about the medical insurance by employer. So peace of mind.
