How is working in Canada different from India? 🇨🇦 vs 🇮🇳

Standard working hours:
🇨🇦 37.5 to 40 hours per week
🇮🇳 45 to 47.5 hours

Job opportunity for freshers:
🇨🇦 A bit tough to get Internship & get started as a fresher
🇮🇳 Freshers have great opportunities to get started. More campus placements. 

Training for freshers:
🇨🇦 Most of the employers will NOT hire and train freshers
🇮🇳 Most companies hire & train the freshers

Work life balance:
🇨🇦 Far better, employers respect your personal time off and work life balance
🇮🇳 Certain managers doesn’t respect work life balance of employees. 

Notice period:
🇨🇦 2 weeks
🇮🇳 2-3 months

Technically Skilled people:
🇨🇦 Scarcity for technically skilled people
🇮🇳 I believe technically skilled people are more in India

Social Security: 
🇨🇦 Has better social security
🇮🇳 Little social security benefits

EI:
🇨🇦 If you lose a job, you will get employment insurance from the govt (a part of your salary) to survive
🇮🇳 No employment insurance

Full time vs Contract: 
🇨🇦 Contract jobs are popular in IT industry. Skilled resources prefer contract over full time because of various reasons. 
🇮🇳 Everyone prefers Full time jobs. Contract jobs are not at all preferred. 

Salary:
🇨🇦 🇮🇳 Skilled labor gets good package in both places

Job Security:
🇨🇦 In Canada, its 2 weeks hiring, 2 weeks firing. 
🇮🇳 Better job security compared to Canada. 

Experience: 
🇨🇦 Experienced candidates are much safer
🇮🇳 In service industry, we have seen that senior resources are easily laid off & replaced. Service industry tends to hire more junior level employees

Cost of Living:
It is very hard to compare this because of various differences. Hence I will provide the details of what i think. Yes, cost of living is high in both the countries. 

House prices: 
🇨🇦 Housing market is a bubble and very expensive. Tough to survive without both husband and wife working.
🇮🇳 House prices remains stable when compared to Canada.

Places to Live:
🇨🇦 IT job market focuses on few cities.
🇮🇳 IT job market is widely spread across the country.

Healthcare cost:
🇨🇦 Out of pocket expense is zero. It is covered by provincial insurance for most of the cases
🇮🇳 Most of the IT companies have group insurance coverage. Hence its covered as part of the insurance coverage. Even private insurances are cheaper compared to Canada. 

Healthcare Quality:
🇨🇦 It is tough to get specialist appointments. Sometimes, even emergency walk in wait period is hours.
🇮🇳 Most places in India have good healthcare facility. You have options to visit any hospitals, clinics or specialists without wait period. Emergency cases are handled very quicker compared to Canada

Social Life:
Even though 🇨🇦 is one of the best places to live in the world, I believe social life in 🇮🇳 is 10 times better. You may miss all the family get together, events, friends etc.

Weather:
🇨🇦 It gets too cold for 4-5 months an year
🇮🇳 It is pretty warm (hot) climate in most of the places

Travel:
🇨🇦 Easier to travel across places
🇮🇳 Travel is a bit hectic.

Public transport:
🇨🇦 Very good public transport in the cities. Outside of the city, less public transport.
🇮🇳 Public transport is good across urban, rural areas. You don’t need a car.
